Dr Lidia Galdino featured in The Mobile Century

TRANSNET Co-Investigator Dr Lidia Galdino features in the 2021 edition of The Mobile Century: Life and Work in the Digital Era – the flagship publication of the Global Telecom Women’s Network, a not-for-profit worldwide association of senior women in the digital tech and digital media sector.

The aim of the Global Telecom Women’s Network (GTWN) is to provide a forum for executive women active in telecommunications to get together and evolve the global information society in a positive way. The association continuously highlights the work of women in engineering and technology to inspire and mentor the younger generation of women in the industry.

The Mobile Century: Life and Work in the Digital Era is the flagship publication of GTWN. The latest and seventh edition officially launches today, and features TRANSNET Co-I Dr Lidia Galdino as one of its contributors.

The theme of the 2021 edition is ‘The Future Re-imagined’ and provides a view of the future transformed by digital technology, but also reimagined in response to the coronavirus pandemic. It’s also a celebration of the vital contribution that women continue to make to innovation in the digital tech sector.

In her article, Lidia shares her personal journey from a young girl in Brazil to engineering researcher in London, describing a recent achievement in which she led the research, based at UCL, that recorded the world’s fastest data transmission speed and what this means for the future of digital communication systems.
