The European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC) is Europe's leading conference on optical communications, and one of the most prominent events in the field worldwide. Now in its 51st year, ECOC brings together academics, researchers and industry pioneers for cutting-edge discussions and perspectives on the future of the field.

This year, ECOC will also be hosting a memorial for Professor Josep Prat, who sadly passed away in June. Josep was a colleague and close friend to members of TRANSNET for almost 30 years, after joining the UCL team as a visiting researcher in 1998. The memorial will feature invited talks from close friends of Josep, including Polina Bayvel and Robert Killey, who will reflect on his legacy. The memorial is scheduled for 12:00-12:30 on Tuesday, 30th September.
